Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Here is a great family spaghetti sauce recipe I received from my mom.
It’s a great homemade sauce recipe if you ask me! This recipe makes a smaller amount, so I always double it and add another can of stewed tomatoes. Feel free to add a splash of Merlot as well it give it a little extra taste.
- 5 cups stewed tomatoes (or combo of pureed, diced and stewed)
- 6 Tbsp minced parsley
- 6 Tbsp green pepper diced (if you want)
- 2 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 3 tsp sugar
- 2 sm bay leaves
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 small cans tomato paste
Combine ALL of the above and simmer for a few hours. Are you a garlic lover, add full cloves for a delicious taste and find the full cloves while eating! Do you like mushrooms? Add them too. Go ahead and be creative, that is what cooking is all about.
Today (April 27, 2008) I made the sauce again today. Didn’t even measure any of the ingredients but used them as a road map. Instead of Merlot wine I added a good amount of Cabernet Sauvingnon that we had opened last night. So far my taste tests have proven good. This is darn good sauce today!!
