Last night as we enjoy some tasty shrimp and salmon skewers on the grill, we uncorked a new bottle of Fifth Leg White 2007, an Australian mix of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chardonnay. It’s light buttery taste was the first impression we had along with the fruitiness of melon. The chilled crispness of the Sauvignon Blanc and overtones of melon were softened by the Semillon and Chardonnay.
This wine paired up nicely with the prawns and salmon and for the price we paid, I think it was $6.99 or $7.99, it can’t be beat. We’ll be sure to pick up a few more bottles the next time we’re out at the wine shop.
Fifth Leg has been around since 1996 when it was born from the Devil’s Lair winery in Western Australia. As for the wine, it’s great, but the web site is just as enjoyable to browse and learn about the wines and vineyard! Take a peek but don’t disturb the dog!
