Godiva Chocolate Martini

Sunday, April 27, 2008 19:51

Image via Wikipedia This is one of my wife's favorite martinis. Well either the chocolate or pomegranate martini. The silkiness of the Godiva Chocolate liquor makes this cocktail ever-so-good! Some ways to present the martini would be to tri-slice a strawberry (make 3 lengthwise partial slices on the berry, but not all the way through) and hand the strawberry over the side of the glass.  Or, drizzle Hershey's Chocolate syrup in fancy patterns on the inside of the martini glass just before you shake and pour.  One last way to present this martini would be to rim the glass with a light coating of cocoa or finely grated milk chocolate.  So whatever your mood there is a perfect way to present this sweet martini!

Grilled Cajun Potato Wedges

Sunday, April 20, 2008 16:30

This weekend the weather was just perfect that I needed to get outside and grill! I made some simple turkey burgers the other night but needed MORE!  I need to keep the grill fired up! Therefore I spent time flipping through old cookbooks and recipes that we've accumulated over the years in search of some great grilling recipes to share. Right now I am prepping tonight's dinner, Filet Mignon with Cajun Potato Wedges, Grilled Onions and either top an arugala salad with the meat (I always love steak salad) or have green beans (maybe even grill those!)

Fire Up The Grill: Orange Marinated Flank Steak

Fire Up The Grill: Orange Marinated Flank Steak

Saturday, April 12, 2008 14:24

My wife is out right now buying a flank steak from the food store and I'm ready to make the marinade and get things going. She found this recipe in Parents magazine and it sounded too good not to share. I can't give a better review right now as we're prepping it for dinner in a few minutes. Afterward I'll come back and edit things and give an appropriate review. Match all of this with a bottle of red white, preferably a Shiraz since it's on the spicy side and will accompany this dish very well.

Muesli Bars

Muesli Bars

Saturday, March 22, 2008 21:24

Here's another recipe I tried this weekend with my 3 1/2 year old son. This one was so easy, even my 19 month old daughter was able to help with the stirring and mixing. Like many of our preschool friends, my son and daughter love cereal bars as a mid-morning snack so we tend to have quite a few in our pantry and I was looking for an alternative quick mid-morning snack. I found this recipe for Muesli Bars in a book by Lucy Burney called Boost Your Child's Immune System. These bars are not as sweet or sugary as the store bought cereal bars. I replaced the fructose called for with light corn syrup, but if you are looking for a sweeter bar you might want to go with the fructose (fruit sugar).
